DAY 20

DAY 20

TREE 23

Today’s climb was also pretty convenient and not too far from the house. But today is the first day I’ve felt hot climbing. The tree itself was not too big around but the climbable branches went all the way up. It was a fun climb and I almost got to the very top. When I stopped and tied my ribbon I had each foot on a different main artery branch. The branches swayed and moved so easily my legs kept splitting apart. It was a great view, I was extremely high and my fear was almost non-existent. I’m getting confident so fast. I am enjoying this project very much.

4-24-08:  If you look carefully at the top of the tree you can see a hint of orange where my ribbon is.  Yesterday I went to Cherokee Park with Will to climb trees and it was first day of this year that I have felt hot.  I remember loving hot weather, but right now I’d be happy with a few more weeks in the low-mid 70’s.  I am also having to adjust to shorts.  My legs got all scraped up trying to climb this big trunk.  Check out my failure:

Then we went into the wooded area and I found a nice grouping of young trees to travel across.  It went a little slow… I need to work on my flow:

Thanks to Will for being my camera man.

In other art related news, I am resurrecting my human body shells for a sculpture park show near Columbus, OH.  I am very excited because I get to try to make them more permanent for possible purchase by the park.  I’ll be getting to work on tests and keep you all updated on the progress and process.
